Walmart can cash your check if you go to a Walmart store. It cannot be redeemed from the app or the website. Many of the drawbacks of the stores are not that they don’t accept checks, but rather, the types of checks they accept.
Walmart redeems 7 different types of checks, those being: Payroll checks, State checks, tax refund checks, cashier’s checks, insurance settlement checks, 401(k), retirement disbursement checks, and MoneyGram money orders issued at a Walmart.

While it is true that Walmart does offer check-to-cash redemption of most checks, however, there are some checks that Walmart does not accept for redemption at any of its physical stores, the types of checks are Handwritten Personal Checks, Post-Dated Checks, and Third-Party Checks.
How Can I Cash my checks?
The check cashing process at any Walmart store is simple. You must visit your local Walmart, and show your checkbook along with your ID. The Walmart worker will verify that the account belongs to the person on the ID.
Once everything is verified, you can cash your check at the store’s customer service counter or the Money Services center.
What time does Walmart stop cashing checks?
Walmart has an in-store Walmart Money Center, which functions as an alternative to a bank. Money Center operates both in physical stores and electronically on Walmart’s online platform or application.
With this service you can get transactions with prepaid and postpaid debit cards, credit cards, money transfers, check transactions, and cashier services.
Walmart Money Center hours depend on the day. Weekday and Saturday hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. On Sundays, the Money Center operates on a different schedule, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Does Walmart cash checks on Sunday?
On Sundays, you can go to your nearest Walmart store and ask for a check-to-cash exchange. This is as long as it is during Walmart Money Center’s established customer service hours, i.e., from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Is there a limit to how much I can cash in Walmart Money Center?
As with everything in life, there are limits on how much you can redeem from check to cash. If the redeeming is done from January through April, the cash limit is $7,500, but if you want to redeem in another month, i.e. May through December, the cash limit is $5,000.
On the other hand, personal checks that are bipartite have a different limit than the rest of the checks, these checks have a limit of $200.
Is there a fee for cashing a personal check?
When cashing a check, an extra fee is also charged. For pre-printed checks with a maximum of $1000, a maximum fee of $4 will be charged. For two-party personal checks, the fee charged at the time of cash is $6, even if the maximum is $200.
