Tax season is confusing for almost everyone because payments are to be made, refunds to be received, and many dates to remember. Tax season started on January 1, and the table of refund dates, payments, and other obligations is now available.
The IRS now receives tax returns via email but does not accept applications until February 12. In other words, the refund dates have also been extended.
This is the 2022 tax refund schedule
The IRS annually publishes a table of the approximate dates on which they will make tax refunds. Keep in mind that the dates may change for different reasons and needs, so you should watch for any new information from the IRS.

Factors that could affect your tax refund
Some of the factors that could affect your refund are errors, fraud, or incomplete returns. Taxpayers waiting for the additional child tax credit (ACTC) or earned income tax credit (EITC) may wait longer each year.
Special rules that cause the IRS to hold refunds until February 27 are almost always filed when the IRS determines that your tax return requires additional review.
When a return has an error or must be treated specially, the deadline would be extended to four months. Returns that handle incorrect amounts for Refund Credit are included in the process.
During tax season, you should keep an eye on your email; if the IRS contacts you, try to give an immediate response to resolve issues in time to avoid further delays in your refunds.
Keep track of your refund
Through the IRS2Go application, you can follow the status of your return and know how your refund is progressing. These are tools with which you will have authorization 24 hours after filing your electronic return and four weeks after rubbing it on paper.
To access the platform, all you need is your Social Security or ITIN number, your marital status, and the exact amount of the refund you will receive. The application will tell you when the refund is received, when it is approved and when it is sent.
Once the application reaches “refund sent,” you have to wait for the financial institution to process the direct deposit or send you the paper check. To stay informed, try to log in to the application daily.
